In order to protect the scenic landscape’s character of the Niagara Escarpment, telecommunication towers are highly discouraged in the Niagara Escarpment Plan Area.  In general, telecommunication towers are regulated by Industry Canada, but additionally, local land use planning authorities, as well as the Niagara Escarpment Commission must be consulted to find a suitable location for towers.  If no alternative is found, proponents must contact the Niagara Escarpment Commission to determine requirements.
