The Niagara Escarpment Commission (NEC) protects, maintains, and enhances Ontario’s Niagara Escarpment through administration of the Niagara Escarpment Plan: Canada’s longest-serving land use plan.
NEC employs 24 staff members who work in tandem with the 17-member Commission appointed by Order-in-Council. Nine members (including the Chair) represent the public-at-large, and eight municipally-elected members represent counties, cities and regions within the Niagara Escarpment Plan (NEP) area.
Between two offices (in Owen Sound, Ont. and Georgetown, Ont.), NEC staff and Commissioners are situated across the 700-kilometre-long Escarpment area – from the Bruce Peninsula to the Niagara Region.
A supporting agency of the Ontario Government, staff members at the NEC are Ontario Public Service employees. Specifically, NEC staff are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Natural Resources. We offer challenging work and competitive pay and benefits in a hybrid environment.
